Roses

I collect roses just for the thorns

so that every time I pierce my finger

blood comes pouring

this is the way

I develop more of my horns

and when I used a rose’s thorn

to disfigure a newborn

my horns developed even more

so I collect more roses

to collect more thorns

to develop more of my horns

to puncture the hearts

of the innocent born

I’ve grown long nails

and a really long tail

as I tread along a royal path

where lost souls

shower my feet with red roses

I became the devil

I became death’s King
