I’m talking about the newest remake. Nope, didn’t like it. There were some moments I liked, but for the most part, the film didn’t do anything for me. It felt like a big piece of garbage…
To be honest, I felt there was so much promise here. For one, Michael’s worn out and aged mask still holds that creepy vibe. His character did well.
As for the other characters, I wish I could say the same. I guess I could understand Laurie Strode’s psychotic fits and her whole defensive persona. I just couldn’t wrap my head around the fact that this very woman took decades to prepare for Michael’s return and yet only slightly managed to beat him.
And the two interviewers died within the first act? Like WHAT? WHY? Let’s say I very much enjoyed the manner they were slashed, but did they really have to die so soon? Nope.
And the first few minutes where we visit Michael at the prison, I felt robbed. In the trailer, this scene looks a lot more exciting than how it actually plays out.
I don’t even have the energy to talk about all the other moments I disliked. So, which moments did I like?
Just two moments: When we follow Michael as he kills everyone off at the gas station and in the suburban neighborhood. No, I’m not saying that I like these scenes because of the ‘gore’. To be frank, gore or not, those were the only exciting moments–if exciting at all.
And it really baffles me how it got a 7.1 rating. Yes, I know I ranted about Hereditary but I would go watch Hereditary a hundred times again and again over this one. Just to put it out there, this is coming from a person who is not against remakes at all. I like remakes as much as originals. This one just didn’t do it for me.
